Dr. Jonas Nguh

Dr. Nguh is a global health scholar and practitioner. His scope of practice is health-systems strengthening in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on maternal, newborn and child health; immunization; family planning and reproductive health; nutrition; water, sanitation and hygiene; malaria; prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV; and pediatric HIV care and treatment in low-resource countries.

He is the current President of the Maryland Public Health Association, which serves 7,000+ public health professionals, and Policy Chair of the Men’s Health Caucus of the American Public Health Association. He previously served as Executive Dean of the School of Health Professions at the University of Providence, overseeing 14 health-profession programs from undergraduate to doctoral level.

Dr. Nguh has taught and worked in more than 20 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia. He holds professorships at six international universities, teaching primarily in public health and nursing, where he chairs doctoral and master’s students.

He holds a PhD in Public Health, a Master of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, along with fellowships of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Academy of Practice, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and board certification as a Nurse Executive, Advanced.
