Dr. PK Yong

Dr. Promise K. Yong — PK Yong — is the National President of Afo-a-kom USA Inc., elected at the National Convention in Minnesota in June 2022. He holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Dakota and is an Organic Chemistry professor at Mesa Community College.

With a deep passion to promote Kom culture, a solid educational background, and a track record across cultural and academic settings, Dr. Yong has made significant contributions to the advancement of Kom culture and the mission of Afo-a-kom USA since its founding in 2004.

He pursued his education from Government Bilingual High School, Fundong, to the University of Buea, Cameroon (Bachelor’s in Chemistry), then taught at St. Bede’s College before moving to the University of North Dakota for his PhD and a certificate in Civil Facilitative Mediation. His leadership roles include President of the Boyo Students Association, President of the Chemistry Graduate Student Association at UND, co-founder of the Bobong Elite Scholarship Program for the Needy, and President of Kom Chicago — showcasing organizational skill, vision, and a gift for motivating others toward a common goal.
