Dr. Valery Nkendong
Psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner, author and founder of Desert Bolt Behavioral.
Dr. Valery Nkendong, a Cameroonian immigrant with 17 years in the USA, exemplifies the American dream through significant contributions to mental health. Licensed by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, he cares for patients of all ages as a psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner. His path from Certified Nursing Assistant to Doctor of Nursing Practice — from community colleges to Walden University — reflects his resilience and drive.
He founded Desert Bolt Behavioral in Phoenix, a center offering personalized, accessible mental health services that also extends support to underprivileged areas in Cameroon.
Dr. Nkendong mentors new nurse practitioners toward empathetic, skilled practice, and works to reduce stigma through his documentary series “The Forgotten Healthcare” on Amazon Prime and his book “Embracing Euthymia.” His multi-entrepreneurial work was recognised with the 40 Under 40 Business Elite Award in New York City.
